I was looking at the current updated pictures and the Manitowoc is putting out a pretty good amount of turbo-lag smoke. I went into the vessel details page on this boat and it states 2 V16 "2 stroke" Alco diesels. Alco's are 4 stroke engines (not 2 stroke) and are notorious for making turbo-lag smoke. EMD's and Fairbanks (among others) are 2 stroke (cycle) engines. If anybody has viewed the LS&I engines in Marquette hauling ore cars, they know what ALCO smoke is. Not sure if LS&I is still ALCO. GE, new EMD H engine, and Caterpiller diesels are also 4 stroke (cycle) engines.
