A better question to ask is why isn't ASC running the Buffalo or Republic instead of the Courage? The Courage is one of the Local 500 boats with unlicensed crew members on strike. The Buffalo and republic are both SIU boats. Also, the Republic is the best boat ASC has for the Cuyahoga. She was built just for that river and from everything I hear the Buffalo is a much better "all around" unloader than the Courage. ASC fit the Courage out after the steelworkers went on strike. Why wouldn't they fit out the Buffalo or Republic instead? Also, as Eric noted. the St Clair wasn't a first choice becasue it is too big to fit into most ports. The St. Clair is limited to the same ports that 1000 footers are limited too but it can't carry the same amount of cargo. Unless ASC has the need for additional footer cargoes (IE: Ore or Western Coal) you won't see the St Clair running.
