I would also suggest Went Missing Redux by Fred Stonehouse on the Bannockburn. Takes the logical approach to the wreck's possible location and why people were seeing this "Flying Dutchman". Spoiler, it was the sister ships:)

Dwight Boyer in his classic book Ghosts Ships of the Great Lakes did a great short story on the Bannockburn mentioning how it had been the Flying Dutchman of Lake Superior

Interesting link about the Bannockburn that disappeared Nov 21, 1902, but supposedly was seen again over the years.
