I read the article reporting that Fednav Limited, Canada’s largest dry bulk shipping group signed a contract for the construction of 10 new bulk carriers to be made in Japan. I realize price is the bottom line but is there really a significant difference of having them built in Japan versus being built on the lakes? I would think that supporting ones local economy and fellow countrymen would play into the decision.
