Re: Yacht Wabi Sabi

A few years back, Luna visited, but i think she never got further than Port Weller. at 115M(377 ft), i think she is the largest yacht to ever visit.
Mitch-Mate III is for sale, last i checked. originally listed for $2 million in 2011, it was relisted again in 2014 for only $839,000. currently at ...

Re: Yacht Wabi Sabi

Wabi Sabi is a 50M Westport. Her sister ship, Seaquest was on the lakes last summer, which is owned by Richard Devos.

It should also be noted that Wabi Sabi is tiny compared to Ellison's other yacht, Musashi, which is 288 feet in length.

I would not be surprised if the Lac Manitoba is scrapped. Look at he damage to the aft superstructure when she rolls the first time.
I doubt she will get scrapped. unless the hull is severely damaged, it would be in Nardo Marines best interest to fix the damaged superstructure and put it back in ...

went down to La Salle, south of windsor last fall. Pride towed it there. Sarnia hiked their docking fees, and since the tug has seen minimal use, her owners could not afford the fees. now docked at the Dean Construction yard.

of note, looking at recently updated images of the area on google earth ...

Re: American Fortitude Updates?

If it is Durochers Champion, that tug would seem a little light for an open lake tow with a large ship. She is twin screw, 65 feet, good horsepower for its size, but I think still light for the job as far as weight of the tug. Probably would be teaming up with another, I can't see solo.
Champion ...

I believe the last Doxford built was installed in the Upper Lakes vessel Canadian Pioneer , she was launched at Port Weller in 1981 , she has since left the lakes , I sailed on the Algosoo In the early 80's , her engine room was immaculate and truly cared for by her Engineering staff , when she ls ...

Re: More Algoma Newbuilds 3 Maj Shipyard

A naïve ( stupid ) question,

Why haven't either Canadian companies gone with thousand footers? The reason I ask is there has to be some routes that warrant them and the ships could at least be built at a North American shipyard.

Thanks,

M

Canadian companies don't have any footers because the ...

Presque isle is an ITB, different from an ATB. it was found that ITBs do not operate vessel well. when underway, an ITB is essentially one unit. Unlike a ATB, which can have some independence from the barge when underway, an ITB can't move.
