Re: Shell fuel dock

I'm thinking that Algoma has a contract with Sterling Fuel to get their fuel from them instead of Shell or Imperial.

Fred lived in Port Huron so he shot up and down the St Clair River. This shot looks like it's right below the Blue Water Bridge.

Re: winter layup 2025-2026

If you go to the main Boatnerd page and in the Extra Tonnage menu at the top, the Lay Up list for this winter is listed there. Right now there are only long term lay ups listed. No word one where and when boats are laying up. A little early yet.

Re: MV REDHEAD DETOUR PASSAGE

If you go to the menu at the top of the main website, Boatnerd.com. Click on Vessel Locations and then 2025 Foreign Vessels on the Lakes. That passage will show you the locations of all the salties on the Lakes.

Re: Dunn Paper - Port Huron Michigan

Ships have docked at Dunn Paper. Vessels can pass there while one is docked there. The attached photo shows a salty docked there with the Callaway and Black Bay passing seen from the Pt Edward side. This was take in 1963 from the Al Sykes coll.

Re: Arthur B Homer pilothouse

I think it was moved into the yard near Lock 8 that had a bunch of pilothouses. Pretty sure I saw it in there in 2001 but hard to be sure. A few years later, the yard was cleared out.

This has been interesting and strange. I'm now wondering if I should leave the number on the Great Lakes Trader's page or not.

I wouldn't use the gallery page off Boatnerd for defense since I'm the one updating them. lol! Updating the pages is what lead me into this IMO issue.

Last week I used the IMO number 8635966 on Lloyd's website and it came back with the Great Lakes Trader. Today it is not working. The ...

Re: Erie Trader

Interesting the Erie Trader does not have an IMO number and the Great Lakes Trader does. I knew barges are not required to have one assigned but notice the GLT had one. When I couldn't find one for the Erie, I thought I'd ask here and see if she had one or not.
Thanks for the info!

Erie Trader

Does anyone know what the IMO number is for the Erie Trader? I have 9618484 for the Clyde S Van Enkevort but nothing for the barge.

I see in the satellite image the Strongfield tied up at the dock. There is another Lake bulker in the drydock unfinished. What was the name going to be for that one?

Re: Montreal Destination

Salties don't always stop in Montreal on their way out of the Lakes. Sometimes they stop for fuel, others will stop at a port before the Atlantic to top off their load, or just continue on. I just use Montreal as a way of saying they are headed out of the Lakes since it is at the end of the Seaway.

Re: Salty expected to unload Trenton Michigan

The Prosna is due in Montreal on the 13th and has a destination of Detroit. Salties headed for Trenton still put Detroit for their destination on AIS since they are not very far apart. So it could be her.
It's kind of unusual for a salty to go direct to Detroit without stops in Hamilton and/or ...

If the salty is new to the Lakes, it remains in bold each trip she makes for that season. If she come in next year, the name won't be in bold.
