Samuel De Champlain

Any word on the status? She has been at Bay Ship since Dec 2. Is one of the other Andrie tugs pushing the Innovation or is cement demand down this spring? Usually the cement boats run longer then the freighters.

Re: Dirk VanEnkevort

Why is the Dirk in Detour? Aren’t they coming to Bay Ship to pick up the Michigan Trader? The port report of today says they arrived in Detour to load limestone? Based on yesterday’s photos, I thought the Dirk was the new tug and didn’t have a barge with her.

Michigan Trader

Yesterday, the self unloaded on the Michigan Trader at Bay Ship was running discharging some sort of aggregate into one of its own hatches midship. First time I have ever seen this. Where was the aggregate coming from, how did it get into the hull in the first place and will it be emptied out before...

For about a week now there is a utility/tool trailer on the stern deck of the Sykes at bay ship. Is there hope of her sailing yet this season or is it a jump on winter maintenance?

Is it unusual for the Joe Block to return from Duluth and go directly to Port Inland? She did so earlier this week so I assume she came down Superior empty?

Must be some mechanical problems on the Barker. The tugs had to move her today to let the Mesabi Miner and Joe block out. Bay Ship workers have been working on her starboard prop for two days now.

What are they doing on the Thunder Bay at Bay Ship. Amidships, they are welding what look like flanges on the hull where it meets the deck. Is this to strengthen the hull?
