They are located on the east side of the Welland Canal. The scrap metal is sent to steel mills to be melted down. Most likely at Stelco in Nanticoke or Dofasco in Hamilton. They might also truck it to the US.

Back in the mid- to late-1980s, some of the cut up steel from the ships were used to create bulkheads that were purchased by property owners on Lake Erie whose property was being damaged by erosion when the lake was at a high water level.

Is marine recycling Corp located on the right side of the welland canal as you come of off Lake Erie? Was watching some videos of them scrapping ships and was just curious as to where there located. What do they do with all the steel that comes from the scrapping of the ships they do? Is it melted down to make new steel? Tia
