The only painting I could find on-line that is remotely close to what you've described is a painting by Steve Witucki called "November's Fury".
It's at the very right bottom of this webpage.

Looking for a shipwreck painting
I've been looking high and low for an old painting that depicted the Henry Steinbrenner, Bradley, Morrell, and the Fitzgerald in storms. I saw it at an art fair about 10 years ago, but it was already sold. It looks like a Jim Clary painting.
