The Algolake coming into Duluth.
I guess when our temps in the 90s and humidity in the 70s hits that cold air from
the 38 degree Lake water, a little fog forms. Glad that muggy weather will be gone tomorrow.
It started raining a couple of minutes after these pics were taken and cleared out the boat watchers.

Re: Getting Busy Again
There is; the North Carolina. She's diesel-electric powered if I'm not mistaken, which means she's not as good as GLT's other Duluth-based tugs for 'normal' operations but excels in ice. She's typically only used early and late in the season and in addition her profile is a bit different than the other three Duluth-based GLT tugs, enough so that even at the distance and resolution of that webcam capture it would probably show.Guest wrote:There is a 4th tug boat in that fleet is there not?hausen wrote:Lee A. So unless GLT sent a tug to Duluth to sit in for the Kentucky while she's in drydock, that's either the North Dakota or Minnesota.

Wind, and the stern thruster is out on the LAT.BleuH2_O wrote:I see LAT is waiting at the fuel dock for winds to die, down before heading to pick up her load. Would rough seas in the harbor explain the need for a tug assist?

Re: Getting Busy Again
It's not the Kentucky, because she is in the drydock at MCM Marine at the Soo right now.

Algo-something at the Sandusky coal dock. That dock seems a bit busy this year. I got to see the coal chute in action. What a fascinating process.
