Re: SS Prince Albert
The Prince Albert was launched 8 July 1843 at Montréal by W. Parkyn of the St. Mary Foundry for W. Lindsay of Montréal, although built in pieces at Scotland and sent to Canada. It was used as a ferry between St-Lambert and Montréal initially, making railway connections at those points. 175 x 25 x 8. It never served on the Great Lakes. In 1864 after deepenng and conversion to a towboat, it was sold to American interests at New York.
SS Prince Albert
Transport Canada's website indicates this ship was the first iron steamship built in Canada in Montreal.
I cannot find any information on this ship. Did she ply the Great Lakes? What became of her?
The only information, other than TC's website, is information on British ships.
Thanks in advance,
M.
