the original questions were about some screwy tracks that the boats on Superior had tacked during the recent gales.
One of the footers 180'd off of the Keweenaw Pen. and ran back for the Shelter of the bay.
I think it was the Speer that did a 270deg button hook off of Passage Island and sailed most of the lee coast of Isle royale for 30+ miles.
Odd.
