Yes, there are major improvements being made along the river from Port Huron (Desmond Landing) to Marysville and beyond. From what I understand, Marysville has been awarded grants to improve the boat launch area, and remove/replace the crumbling seawall. It's a big undertaking and an inconvenience for now, but when its done, it will be a much better and more attractive site for boatnerds and fishermen/women. Another part of the plan is to provide spawning grounds for native fish species and filter run-off water before it enters the river, using grasses and other native plants.
