The Calumet was anchored off of the Grand Haven channel to allow the St. Mary's Challenger to get in ahead of it, with the Meredith Ashton was on hand to break ice and clear a path to help the Challenger make her way in.
At about 4PM, the Challenger had made it past the Coast Guard station and was almost to the waterfront stadium while the Calumet remained offshore.
When I drove by again at about 6PM, the Calumet was slowly making its was up the channel under its own power, having just passed the Coast Guard station, while the Ashton was clearing ice around the cement docks to allow the Challenger to dock.
