Ok, thanks. Its not often you see a partial cargo like that but it beats
traveling empty every time, lol.

Maybe they just loaded her coal bunkers in Ashtabula;)
I agree, she's in ballast in that photo.

Ah, the plot thickens, the News Photo Gallery today (29th) shows the HCJ upbound at Port Huron on Sunday the 26th in ballast so now I'm really confused. Unless my eyes deceive me they didn't load coal in Ashtabula.

That was just someone's speculation. She was never scheduled to load grain.

What happened to the Jackson loading grain for a Seaway Trip?

A quick turnaround. She is new headed for Marquette having left Milwaukee at around 7.30 am CT

HCJ arrived in Milwaukee around 2.45AM CT (8.45 AM where I am).
Since returning home this morning I note the she is at the coal dock - presumably unloading - on the western side of the Inner Basin.

Yes, the marine weather observation page shows the Herbert C Jackson was in Ashtabula early Saturday.

They were on eastern Lake Erie over the weekend, maybe to load coal at Ashtabula.

Could she have loaded coal in Toledo after her River Rouge unload? She was about 40 hours between her downbound and upbound Port Huron passages. Hard to believe an American laker would have a Seaway grain trip.

I see the Jackson has Milwaukee listed as destination on her AIS.
They are most likely loading grain. Could this be a Seaway trip? Mike
