The problem with Gary harbor is there is only one breakwall and it leaves entering or leaving almost impossible with a NE wind. When I was on the Clarke in the 70s we had to stop unloading under the huletts because of the wave surges that were running the length of the slip. Also, one time in November we had finished unloading and had made it out of the slip, but the boat wouldn't come around because of the wind, so we had to go back in and tie up until the wind subsided.
