On Monday evening 9 Nov 15 the Algomarine is presently downbound on Lake Superior bound for Toledo, Ohio to unload a grain cargo that was loaded at Thunder Bay, Ontario.

The Algolake was not re-powered.

I would imagine it is pretty irrelevant considering the whole Equinox delivery issues etc that have since gone on...

5-year yes, new engines no for the Algolake. And I would guess that the 2010 demise document is quite out of date based on the unexpected delays with the Equinox vessels.

The Algolake did indeed get new paint and a 5 year done just this past winter at Bay Ship in Sturgeon Bay. New Engines they did not get as that was put into both the CSL Laurentien along with their fleetmate the CSL Assiniboine and Yes, both of them got received new paint jobs as well. Hope that this helps.

The fleet demise list is an internal SMT/Algoma document dated 2010.Again I stress subject to change.

kamco what is that list based off of? Algowood received a 5-year in 2013, it doesn't make sense that she would be retired in 2016 considering that and her age.

I don't think you'll see forebody replacements anymore on the current fleet

No forebody replacement for Algowood?

There are over 100 gates that are rotted out in the tunnel of the marine that can't be replaced without a lot of time and money it's just not worth it to fix her not to mention the tank tops are also gone and so on and so on she is done for sure the crew are taking off everything that they don't need for the next month she had a hard time passing Lloyd's in the spring it will not pass inspection this spring without millions $$

I agree with you Chris and I also will not believe she is done either until I see and hear first hand from Algoma or like you say she ends up either at IMS or another scrapyard. Back in 2010 at that time, there were rumors floating like clockwork that the Algosteel was all done! As you said, "What happened with the Algosteel?" Five years later she is still with us along with the Algolake and also the Algosoo whom many thought were done. Two others to add are both the Algorail and Algoway. Fortunately they are both still here with us but for how much longer?

She's not done until the company offically announces it or she pulls into IMS (assuming thats where she'd be scrapped). Look how the Algosteel and Algolake were suppose to be done a few years ago, yet she's still with us.

That is so sad. My favorite Algoma ship. I was fortunate in the fact that I got to see her in action twice, unfortunately I never got the chance to get a good photo of her because the circumstances never permitted it.

But something told me that she was not long for the world. Guess she'll soon be going to ship heaven with all the other greats. Goodbye Algomarine. *weeps*.

I was wondering if anyone has heard what the future of the Algomarine is? I think I saw somewhere that her 5 year is coming up. With the new builds, I wonder what her future is going to be.

Any info would be appreciated.
