The latest release from Algoma states that the 5 bulk commodity ships to be retired date from the 1960s to early 1970s. As such, this would not seem to include the 1980 built Peter R. Creswell unless it was part of an earlier retirement decision. The spate of retirements is not confined to the lakes as several ocean fleets are also reducing their ships to reflect over capacity.
