I got back in my apartment this afternoon. My son picked me up after he was done with work on Thurs. and took me over to his/my ex's house. Power came back on in my building late last night, elevator still doesn't work, so it was a treat getting up to the 4th floor for a disabled guy. The worst thunder storm/wind I've seen in the 37 years I've been in Duluth. Some parts of town they're saying no power until the 28th. All kinds of trees down and over 130 power poles also down. Power crews came in from as far away as Missouri to help restore power. Not good with as hot as it's been here. Government Services Center downtown recorded winds of over 100 mph.

Interesting how it goes from flat calm to stormy in a matter of seconds.

I take my hat off to that Captain-the way his tailend was swinging around to the south as he was under the bridge-darn good skill and darn good luck!! The lightening show after he was in the harbor was like nothing I've seen before

It went from dead calm to super strong wind and lightning flashes like I have never seen, about 20 flashes per second, mostly cloud-to cloud. Lasted about half an hour. Lost power at my house for a day and a half, but there are whole sections of Duluth with no power, and likely will be for several more days. I think they said there were about 44000 outages, down to about 20000 at the moment. Trees are down everywhere you look, thousands of them.

I was there early that morning. We were staying at the South Pier Inn. I didn't see the ship coming in. We were awakened by the wind slamming the rain against the window of our room. I have never seen a thunderstorm that severe in my life and I'm 69 years old, a life long resident of Indiana, so I have seen my share of storms. Kudos to the captain!!
