Capt. Sheldon on the Joseph L. Block went all out in this 2010 photo. But this is definitely the exception, not the norm.

These are (left) Canadian flag, POW/MIA and state of Indiana (home port)
Right side, state of Minnesota, International Shipmasters' Association pennant with star signifying that the member is a past Grand President, state of Michigan, and the unofficial flag of the Upper Peninsula.

I concur. Seems the optimism and pride is gone from things.

Is it just me, or are ships on the Great Lakes flying fewer flags these days?

I noticed a lack of House Flags, Courtesy Flags and even Ensigns being displayed. Some vessels don't seem to be flying anything anymore.
