Did the Port of Hamilton have an interest in Upper Canada Container Lines? A feeder vessel sounds like a better idea than containers on a barge and may have induced more shippers to sign on? 1

Sea 3 was operated and funded entirely by the port authority and the sole entity to take a financial bath when it all collapsed[. Evreryone else made out fine as they were being paid by the port.The railways have this business sewn up tight.

Sea 3 was a service operated by several entities,Montship handled the sales and customer service,Federal Marine Terminals .Montreal Gateway Terminals and Hamilton Port Authority provided Terminal Management. McKeil Marine was chartered to be the transportation provider according to the brochure this information is from the Contact was Montship They ran a set schedule,but shippers were slow in accepting this idea and the consortium ran in the red with the board of directors not renewing the agreement at the end of its term.This was a good idea but not the right time.

Upper Canada Container Lines run by same guy was headquartered at the port of hamilton, actually read somewhere they had bought a feeder container ship but it never showed up in the lakes and the port started a service called Sea3 using a McKeil barge.

Interesting to read the judgement. In the narrative it mentions that the previous owner a Turkish national Mangu Pasinli had bought the ship with money from Ballantrae Holdings in partnership with an Ian Hamilton. Is this the same guy who is a vice-president at the Port of Hamilton? Just noticed an article penned by him in the latest issue of maritimemag.
