The Ryerson was a good earner on the Hamilton fun and on several trips, she hauled manganese ore from Quebec to Indiana Harbor, on the return trip. On the last trip in 2009, they received orders to proceed to Fraser Ship Yard and prepare the vessel for long term layup. At that time, there was a surplus of vessels and the Canadian ships were looking for a back haul cargo down the Seaway. They were willing to haul the Ryerson's cargos at a rate that was cheaper than hauling with the Ryerson. When all of the boats are sailing again and the rates are back up, you will probably see the Ryerson return to service.
