Repairs of the underwater portion of the hull have to be done in drydock. While they could crop out and replace hull plating underwater, they can't paint the repairs underwater.

Which of the proposed repairs can be made on land?

why would they tow it to a shipyard when repairs can be made on land?

Any ideas on who will do the tow? I most recently toured the Cod just over a year ago, it is a fantastic museum.

That would be something to see: The USS Cod Submarine moved from Cleveland to the shipyard in Erie. Hopefully, it won't cost as much as moving the Irwin between Duluth and Superior. I will look forward to any pictures that will be posted, if I don't get a chance to see the move. I presume they will have a tug fore and aft.
