I am learning more about the loss of the Fitzgerald. When Anderson Captain Bernie Cooper said the Fitzgerald was closer to the shoal area than he would have liked to be is it known approximately where the Fitzgerald was at that time how close was this ship to this shoal area?
It was incredibly brave of Captain Cooper and the crew of the Anderson, as well as other ships, to venture back out into that Lake Superior storm to look for survivors. And from what i have learned apparently Cooper did not even ask permission from the owners of the Anderson to go back out.
