The Alpena is a regular visitor to the cement terminal in Superior, WI. I don't know how many or how often, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was between 10-20 times per season.

The Alpena does make a very rare trip from time to time it would seem each season from her namesake Port of Alpena, Michigan to Duluth-Superior. She usually unloads her cement cargo at the Lafarge Cement Dock in Superior. Not 100% sure but, the Lafarge name may now be called Holcim today? Glad you got to see her as I unfortunately missed her last year and season on the St. Clair River. She can often be found hauling cement cargoes over to Lake Michigan ports especially to Green Bay. They do however make a few trips as well down the St. Clair River to Detroit, Toledo and Cleveland. She’s always been a favorite!

What a treat for everyone along the way from Detour to the Soo and beyond to get to see the Alpena up close and personal!! Is this an out of the ordinary trip for her to be heading so far north and west or does she occasionally make her way to the west end of Superior and what would be her calling over Superior/Duluth way?
