As of 8:45 pm EDT on June 4, the Algoma Bear is now on the lower St. Mary’s River headed for the Soo Locks along with eventually to Two Harbors to load ore pellets. This is their first trip to the Upper Great Lakes! It is fitting along with ironic as I saw on the AIS map, the Algoma Bear the newest ship on the Great Lakes passed the largest ship on the Great Lakes the Paul R. Tregurtha earlier today in the lower St. Mary’s River. Now that would’ve been neat to see that! Hope that somebody saw that and took photos and will post it here on boatnerd. A drone shot I’m sure of the two passing would’ve really been something to see!
