Keep your fingers crossed Bookworm along with your friend as you just never know sometimes. Did you also know that both the Block and Herbert C. Jackson made trips through the Welland and the Seaway a few years ago then? That was I think a first for each of those two ships to do that run? Most of us I’m sure know American Mariner and H. Lee White have each been through the Welland and made Seaway trips. I think the John J. Boland has as well not too long ago. I’d like to see a few others like the Sykes sometime go through the Welland and the Seaway and also the American Courage and Sam Laud. Throw in the Calumet and Manitowoc. Those four I don’t think have been through the Welland or Seaway that I’m aware of?

Thanks to you, guest and Denny for answering my questions. Denny, I have not "jumped ship," but have a dear friend living close to the Welland who is hoping Great Republic might have a trip through the Canal in this shipping season.

YES Bookworm the Great Republic indeed has been through the Welland Canal before and in fact, she’s even made trips through the Seaway as well. I don’t recall just what years she made those Seaway trips but, each time she did it they carried ore pellets to Quebec City, Quebec. So, she’s NO stranger to going through the Welland Canal and the Seaway. If I’m not mistaken, I believe she’s made one trip with then her black hull colors when she was first sold to GLF from ASC. Later then, I’m pretty sure she also made a Seaway trip with her red hull colors as well. I hope that this is what you were looking for Bookworm my dear friend and that it has helped you out as well.

In recent weeks, the M/V Great Republic has made two trips to Buffalo, NY. Has she ever gone through the Welland Canal? If so, what was her destination?
