from the picture hopefully attached, the wall at the east end of the lock kinks to the SE ............... a straight shot out of the lock would rub that wall. Place an upbound boat there and the situation affords even LESS room.

From my point of view, and downbound vessel HAS to begin a slight turn to Starboard to clear that wall. With no room to clear for the stern, I would think without a bow thruster, you're going to at the very minimum scrape some paint.
