I may be wrong, but I've always assumed that the published pay rates are the total gross earnings for each pilot in an association. So out of that they have to pay all business expenses, including providing pilot boats, docks, fuel, dispatchers, pilot boat captains, office, insurance, etc.
Does anyone know otherwise?
