The Interlake Steamship Company started using the St. Lawrence Seaway around 1962/63, with the E. G. Grace, Herbert C. Jackson and I think Harry Coulby. The March 2014 issue of the Scanner from the Toronto Marine Historical Society covered this aspect of the E. G. Grace's career. Unfortunately my copy has been misplaced so I can't confirm if the Harry Coulby did use the St. Lawrence Seaway. The Canadian Parliament passed legislation for U.S. lakers to use the St. Lawrence Seaway without the use of pilots in July 1961.

Before that time, back in the 1930s Interlake Steamship had vessels that would use the Welland Canal to bring grain to Toronto in the Fall.

Did any of the Interlake Steamship Company's vessels ever travel regularly through the Welland Canal and/or the St. Lawrence Seaway during the 1960s? I believe the E. G. Grace was sent down the Seaway shortly after it opened in 1959 but was wondering how much of a presence the company had on the Welland Canal and Seaway prior to the 1970s.
