The Mather folks had discussions with the Cleveland Friends of the Huletts folks and the City. The "Friends of the Hulett" folks want to erect a Hulett and have no money. They want to continue to litigate over the improper removal of these Huletts. The mediating USACE has grown tired of the angry "Friends". This process has been going on for decades.
The City will not allow a Hulett to be installed on that prime property of dock 32. The FAA will have issues as well because it would be directly in the flight path of 6L Burke. It will not happen. The Mather offered to install a bucket and arm into a cargo hold but the 'Friends balked only when they were told they would not be allowed to be part of the planning, install, and interpretive process by the Mather folks.
The cost to erect one Hulett would be millions of dollars. Reasonable alternatives have been proposed in earnest. The USACE will make a decision some day of what to do with the rusting remains stacked on Whiskey Island and I would bet the "Friends" will not be any part of their decision.
Reasonable is the key word here. The Mather's cargo hold renovation plans are moving on without them now. Toledo and Cleveland should have got an arm for their Museum freighters paid out of the remaining scrap. There are switch cars too.
