Cargoes' effects upon ship motion

by Bob Graham » July 28, 2010, 7:51 am

Can anyone define how different cargoes affect the way ships handle and/or react to sea conditions? I'm thinking for example of iron ore vs grain, where each presumably impacts center of gravity differently. Also, what about possibilities of ore pellets shifting in the holds if the vessel rolls or pitches heavily?
