Built as a "Norton" class navy tug. (Peninsula in Thunder Bay is a sister, and lead tug of the class.) This was a class of six vessels, with 1000bhp Sulzer engines, built under license by Dominion Bridge. This particular tug was named Riverton because she was built by Chantier Maritime St-Laurent at Ile d'Orleans. Similarly when the RCN sold her to Techno Maritime, she was renamed Techno-St-Laurent. I understand that her hull may have built by Dominion Bridge in Walkerville, ON and completed at St-Laurent. The name was officially changed to KRISTIN, but never painted on the hull, so she retained the Techno-St-Laurent name even after McKeil ownership. These tugs were intended for coastal towing and harbour work berthing the larger ships, such as aircraft carriers. However in its later years in the RCN, Riverton was used for target towing, and worked out of Halifax until sold to Techo.

Does anybody have some details on this tug? I saw the Techno-St. Laurent recently at Port Colborne. I can't find any information on this ship (specs, owner etc).
