The F. M. Osborne is still in documentation, until 31 May 2011. She briefly left documentation earlier in the decade. The Erie was dismantled at Fairport in 1981-1982. The C. W. Cadwell was cut down to a barge by McKeil in 1983 and left Canadian registry in 1999. She may still be around in some form. The Niagara II was reefed 15 May 1999 off Tobermory as a dive attraction. The Massey D., as Steven H., was broken up at Port Clinton in 2002-2003.

I agree these are (were) fascinating vessels.

While looking for information on the John R. Emery, I became familiar with these vessels. There were a handful operating, but now the only active one I have found is Erie Sand Steamship's MV. J.S. St. John. Could you please tell me what became of the MV. C.W. Cadwell, McKeil Workboat's M.V. Niagara II,, Osborne Material's M.V.s Erie & F.M. Osborne (2), and Panoceanic Engineering Corp's M.V. Massey D.? These are fascinating smaller, older ships. I hope that more than one of them are still around.

The Emery eventually made it to Perth Amboy, New Jersey, where she was abandoned. She was broken up there during the fall of 2007, I believe, after being unsuccessfully listed on eBay.

She sank in New York harbor late in 2006 and has since been scrapped.

Whatever happened to the MV. John R. Emery? She was in Fairport, OH. Put up for sale in 2004. Moved via the Erie Canal to New York. The last I knew of her, she was shown in the Feb. 23, 2006 "News Photo Gallery" tied-up at a New York State port, and once again for sale. TIA.
