Believe they are carrying oil refinery components.

See the News Page, Federal Power was in Hammond Bay. Palau was off Detour.

Anyone know her current location? I talked to my Dad today and he said there was a ship anchored in Hammon Bay (between Rogers City and Cheboygan). From is description, it might have been the Palau?

Right now the Palau is upbound on Lake Michigan, due the Detour Pilot Station at 0700/26. Assuming she comes down Lake Huron that puts her through Port Huron and Detroit very late on the 26th or early on the 27th.

Does anyone know when the Palau is going to depart Burns Harbor?
I am hoping to catch the ship on its way back down.

From the Europeanoilandgas website.

"the M/V Palmerton was completed in November 2009, the M/V Palabora in January 2010, the M/V Palembang in May 2010 while the M/V Palau will be delivered in July 2010. These are GL +100 A5 E3 class, multipurpose dry cargo ships, equipped for the carriage of containers and dangerous goods. Strengthened for heavy cargo, the cargo hold features boxed, steel flooring, tween deck hoistable in three different heights. The total cubic capacity of the hold is 15,700 cubic metres."

The Palmerton has just finished a visit to the Lakes, unloading in Burns Harbor on Oct 11-12.

Each of them are making at least one trip this season running project cargo from the far east to Burns Harbor. Believe several of them are doing so on their maiden voyage.

The off set cabins below the pilot house is a feature I have not seen on the lakes. Surely a look that is one of a kind.

I saw the Palau upbound, Detroit River between 1500 & 1530, between downtown Detroit & downtown Windsor. Strange looking boat. Cannot find a pic on this website. Help, TIA.
