They aren't accurate. The same thing happened to us a couple of weeks ago when the Whitefish was just south of Clipperton Island and it then comes back within a day or so of passing Isla des Coco, Costa Rica. It is because they are outside of the satellite zone so they have lost communication. When they get back into the coverage zones their courses and speeds will be accurate. Somebody mentioned hurricanes when this happened to us which wasn't true. We experienced no weather whatsoever on our crossing, similar to what we experienced 2 years prior on the Algoma Mariner. That is why these routes are chosen. Remember they are 50% scantling ships with no bilge keels and so don't want to experience much weather.
