Huron Ohio it is. Sailed in their many times on the Big Joe Thompson in the mid-late 70's with capt. Tom Garvey from Conneaut Ohio. The Pilsbury logo is missing from the elevator removed by new ownership. The grassed in area to the left is now a paved state owned public boat launch area.

I remember sailing into Huron, Ohio in the late fifties aboard the SS crispin oglebay. We always enjoyed our short time ashore at "grammas" small store with the 3.2 beer she kept in the Kelvinator refrig. We couldnt get into much trouble in a town like that.

William, The ore dock was managed by Hanna. If you look closely at the hullets it says Nickel Plate Road. The name of the dock company was The Lake Erie Ore Dock. It subsequently was taken over by the Norfolk & Western. The lettering on the rigs was changed to this. My dad sailed the Joe Thompson 76-82. Huron was it's regular port of call. I made a trip in '53 on the Matthew Andrews into Huron. I have several old pictures of the dock in Huron, but am not very good at scanning. Many happy memories from this port! Regards, Mike

Huron, OH N&W RR at the end. The elevator was at one time owned by Pilsbury. This was a regular stop of the Joseph H. Thompson whose ore was shipped to Wheeling Pittsburg Steel in Mingo Junction, OH or Monessen, PA Regards, Mike
