While there were a lot of ships named Marquette, I am seeing only one in your time period of the 1940's. She would be the Cleveland-Cliffs Marquette built in 1906 as the E. L. Wallace. Both her history and photo can be found at the BGSU (Bowling Green State University) website. If you are unfamiliar with the BGSU site, please go to the Boatnerd home page, choose "Links", and click on to "Historical Collections of the Great Lakes", and do a vessel search for either "wallace" or "marquette". Your search will come back with several ships. Choose the ship built in 1906, or another, if this isn't the ship you are looking for. She is an interesting ship for her 1st hand accounts of the the Great Storm of 1913.
