A quick thaw opened the river to two way traffic again, allowing US and Canadian Coast Guard ice breakers a well-deserved rest. In the short time I was there ice formations broke up and floated down river, leaving open water, nearly from shore-to-shore! River traffic was heavy. At one time, four ships/boats/vessels were in sight!
