Marker in Ogdensburg NY where Franz von Werra entered US

Does anyone know where the historical marker was and if it's still intact where German pilot Franz von Werra reached then neutral US soil in early 1941 after escaping from a Canadian POW train and crossing the frozen St. Lawrence?

It was placed somewhere on the old grounds for the state mental hospital after the movie 'The One That Got Away' premiered in Ogdensburg in 1957 according to local papers from the time. But I've never actually found it and an email several years ago to the city historian inquiring about it after I saw the movie on Turner Classic Movies and learned about it sadly went unanswered.

Here's a few quick Wikipedia links with the basics for those curious that don't know the story or have never seen the film (Which TCM airs every once in a while). Fascinating story and excellent movie.
