It was an unexpected surprise to see Draken Harald H on AIS this afternoon, since the last I knew, there was a question as to whether this tall ship could take part in the Bay City Festival. As they came up river -- but too far away for a good shot --a steady wind filled their sails but, as they came closer, I was dismayed to realize the sails were being taken down!

- Sails still partly up.

- Sails down.
-

- The ornate dragon figurehead and colorful hull.
-

- While waiting for Draken Harald H to enter Lake Huron, I was treated to the two Tregurthas approaching the St. Clair River. Lee A led (after passing Paul R. shortly before), on her way to AK-Rouge with taconite from Marquette.
-

- Thousand footer Paul R. Tregurtha followed with coal for the St. Clair Power Plant.
-

- Down-bound Lee A. Tregurtha (an older, classic freighter) meets up-bound tug-barge Defiance/Ashtabula (one of the newer designs).
-

- Tug Defiance and barge Ashtabula continue on their way to the Soo/Essar.
-

- Storm clouds were gathering as Spartan and barge Spartan II passed, on their way to Ludington.
