If nothing else, you can try the Great Lakes Historical museum in Toledo where the Boyer/Schoonmaker now rests on display. Back when I volunteered on her, I thought it was mentioned they had some old personnel records laying around. Cliffs Natural Resources, formerly Cleveland Cliffs, is another possibility.

The son of Henry or Hank Levinsky is looking for information about his father's career on the freighters. His father had a glass eye and was sometimes called"Popeye". He thinks he worked on the Willis Boyer in the early 70's. He believes his father worked with the boilers in the engine room. Any information would be appreciated.
