There is someone who has been asked to take photos of all three vessels being towed into Aliaga, so far he has complied with the Agawa Canyon, I am certain he will send photos of the Canadian Prospector, and lastly the Algoisle. As soon as they are sent I will post them for all to see.

Is it possible to get a picture of the Prospector on the beach in Turkey?

Last souvenir for me!

Captain Michalis S may have been towing one herself as she is back in Athens, given the distance, I don't think they would call a tug from Athens for a steering tug. just a thought.

Time: 2130 EDT, Tug Simoon aproximately twelve miles, WNW of Aliaga. Tug Captain Michalis appears to have come out to meet them and is following about four miles astern.

ITC Towing advise me the tug Simoon with the Canadian Prospector will arrive at day break tomorrow November 3, 2010, the combo is presently 49.0 nm west of Aliaga and are stopped.

By all acounts, the tug Simoon and the Canadian Prospector should be anywhere within a distance of 404.9 n miles between the Island of Malta and the western end of Crete, this is an estimation, they are due at Aliaga Nov 5, 2010.

Well, if she were to be used as an artificial reef, generations of folks could enjoy her. until she was finally covered over or suffered a total collapse of structure.

I suppose its a matter of taste, she could come back as another vessel, who knows, in the meantime, at 1744 local time 1144 our time the tow of the Canadian Prospector was 62.2 nautical miles South East of Malaga Spain, Mederranean Sea.

Mixed emotions...

In a way glad that she made it, but not sure if a watery grave would not have been more dignified and respectful than the torches of the scrappers...

This has been discussed before and determined to be an error.

I did some research using the IMO number of Canadian Prospector. Some sites are reporting the vessel is now called Alliance and is registered with France. To see what I am talking about see this link: http://www.vesseltracker.com/en/Ships/C ... 26663.html

Can anyone confirm this or is it an error?

Why did ULS decide to scrap the Prospector vs. one of the others?

Its always sad to see these old vessels leave for the last time,
not always a happy occasion for all who sailed them, and on them.

I have witnessed many leave Montreal, I was also a guest on the Ocean Hercule when she was the stern tug on the Canadian Voyageur tow, it was very very sad indeed.

The Canadian Prospector and tug Simoon should be reaching Gibralter soon. This tow was slowed down by the Hurricane Igor, the combo waited it out in the St Lawrence River while Hurricane Igor moved Northward.

The Ionion Pelagos and Algoisle tow are presently S E of Port aux Basques doing 5.6 knots at this time.
