P&H has bought the facility and is storing product in the warehouse buliding, via truck, then loading vessels. There is a big write up in the Paper about how it is going to be one of the top ten piers in Hamilton.

She is loading grain at pier 10-5. Bunge appears to have set up a new conveyor and hopper, which is loaded by a long line up of trucks. Looks like a slow operation, the vessel has to shift back and forth because of the limited length of the pier. I'll send in some pictures.

Someone at Welland Seaway told me that not that much grain is flowing as anticipated, anyone have any ideas?. If the grain does start to flow, maybe they will reactivate the vessels you mentioned?

Didn't ULS have any other vessels for this contract? It's a shame they couldn't have reactivated another vessel such as the Canadian Prospector or Canadian Miner, or was the Leitch in the best shape?

Thank you for that Boat Buddy, hopefully the Gordon C Leitch will load it seems that way to me. Saw her go up the Seaway at Kahnawake Thursday , It brought back memories my wife and I sailed on her as guests in Oct 1989, when she was the Ralph Misener.

P & H announced plans in the summer to build a grain handling facility in Hamilton. At present it doesn't have one. Soy beans and canola are unloaded at the Bunge vegetable oil plant at the foot of Wellington St. Grain is loaded at Pier 25, Richardsons. It has been a busy dock this fall.

10-5 is were the Canadian Leader was laid up for about a year. Usually only repairs or layup happens there. Grain is loaded at James Richardson Pier 25.

Isn't that the pier that P & H loads grain onto boats at?

She's in ballast so I'd assume some sort of repairs, or possibly loading.

The Leitch is headed to Hamilton pier 10-5, due late tomorrow evening. What will she be doing at that pier?
