Port Maitland has the Canadian Navy ship there now for scrapping. What is the ships name whose remains are almost gone that they are cutting up now?

Years ago I saw the D.M. Clemson being scrapped in Thunder Bay. Can ships still be scrapped there or is that company out of business? Where did the scrap from Thunder Bay go to? Seems like a long way from the steel mills. Thanks.

Sorry. My previous map link for Dean Construction in LaSalle was the wrong location. Here is the correct spot.

Maybe Dean's Yard in Lasalle, Ontario can be added to the list.

As for barges, they can be scrapped almost anywhere.

Dean Construction in LaSalle, Ont has scrapped several barges, including the Detroit and the Alabama, in the past few years.http://www.bing.com/maps/?v=2&cp=42.222 ... ir=0&sty=h

There is a place on Lake Calumet that scraps barges but I have only seen inland river barges there http://www.bing.com/maps/?v=2&cp=41.673 ... ir=0&sty=h

Fraser Shipyards has scrapped numerous small work boats at their shipyard in Superior, WI over the past few years.

The Lansdowne was scrapped somewhere on the Buffalo River in 2008.

The Sea Castle was scrapped at its long term layup berth in Muskegon about 2006.

And I think the tank barge Mr. Mickey may have been cut up at Basic Marine in Escanaba.

International Marine Salvage (IMS) is the parent corporation of Marine Recycling Company (MRC), and Both their Port Colborne and Port Maitland Ontario yards currently appear quite busy.

I understand that IMS scraps at Port Maitland now instead of Port Colbourne, or, do they use both locations?

International Marine Salvage, Port Colborne ON. and Purvis Marine, Sault Ste. Marie ON.

Are there any place left on the great lakes that scrap old vessles or barges?
