Paul, like gyroplanes said the bridges at 92-Ewing, 95th, 100th, & 106th are good spots and seem to be safe although always be aware of your surroundings of course. The bridge at 130th offers a shot if the Alpena or one of the barges is at the Lafarge terminal. It is also a vantage point to see the St. Marys Challenger coming or going to her terminal in Lake Calumet. You have to park on the west side of the bridge and hike up to the bridge but you have to be careful as 130th street is very busy and Fast!
But the four bridges on the Calumet River are really the best.52I

There are many places along the Calumet River. The bridges are the best. Mid-river the viewing opportunities are few (from shore) Viewing picks up again after 125th street area and Lake Calumet is barbed wired in. Any specific areas? send me an e-mail gyroplanes at aol dot com

Where is the best place to go and boat watch (safely) on the Calumet?
