Another snag in the reopening plans.

When I sailed for P&H shipping Co. one of our Captain's passed another ship going up bound and came close to the Inn, the wake hit the dock and the building, causing many bucks to repair the damage it made and so did a house next to the Inn claming wake damage to it's dock and yacht tied up to it. After that happened it was a company rule to check the speed while going by the Inn and mark the speed and wake in the log book.

You can't beat St. Clair and that boardwalk out there for seeing the passing ship traffic up close and personal. The boardwalk is great for a nice walk or stroll and the park itself is perfect for whatever you wanna do rather it be shipwatching or just relaxing and taking it easy. I have been watching the ships pass there for more than twenty years and it never gets old and boring that is for sure.

I agree tugboat ! The boardwalk in Saint Clair is a great place to watch ships. The channel turns close to the American shore at this point giving folks a close look at ships. The resturant on the south end of the boardwalk is a great place to eat. Not a bad seat in the house. I like to watch ships pass in the summer time from the park then, go across the street and get a giant ice cream cone.

Was my faorite place to photo from sorry to say it's a sign of the times great views and such a neat town to visit of course the boardwalk should be available I hope. it's a reashame such a neat place to observe shipping the water was so blue on a bright day the boats would pass so close it was too easy to take pics there. Today you may sit for hours to see a boat.

It has been many years since I was last inside the St. Clair Inn and from what I can remember, didn't they used to have some old ship paintings spanning the hallways inside? Also, I remember at one point they had a large scale model of the John Sherwin as well somewhere inside. I suppose that all of the old paintings and models have since been removed? Sad to see and hear of it now closed as there was lots of history there. Never stayed there or ate there but, do know of some people that have and they all liked the place and the food back when it was still open.

Talk about hitting the nail on the head ed is right.who ever buys it has their work cut out for them it needs a whole new persona.It has a lot of potential but will take some big dollars and someone that cares enough.

The view of the river can Not replace poor service and average food ! That is what got them into trouble.

Someone will buy the St. Clair Inn. Ever have dinner there? Its awesome. Not a bad table in the place for watching *Laker's going by...!*

It's closed. At this point no one really knows what will happen to it.

There were news articles posted on the News Page about the Inn closing down. You might want to check out the News Page for any recent articles or updates. I don't believe there has been any new reports or updates that I am aware of. Hope that this helps.
