Re: M/V Roger Blough update
As far as we've been able to tell, it was a complete unload. Loaded into 2 of GLF's AAA's and in 2 different locations on Lake Superior, but a complete unload.

Re: M/V Roger Blough update
For those who are missing the action, here's a screenshot I took a few minutes ago on the Soo webcam site of the Blough entering the Poe Lock. She actually entered around an hour ago. Allowing for the security time lag of the Soo webcam site. I had to reduce the file size to comply with the 300 KB ...

M/V Roger Blough update
As of 1143 EDT today, it appears that the Blough MIGHT be under way and heading to the shipyard. I'm getting different info on Marine Traffic and Boatnerd AIS. Marine Traffic is showing her status as Under Way at a speed of almost 5 kts. while Boatnerd shows her at anchor with a speed of 1.1 kts ...

Re: Tim Dool adrift in lake Superior
Thinking good thoughts with the sincere wish that the crew is safe and comes through this with nothing more than a story to tell their friends and family.

Re: Ship Finder AIS sites
You can grab the ais map on duluthharborcam with your mouse and drag the map to different places. I just checked and was able to drag all the way to the east end of Lake Ontario. If you're looking for news, video and/or live webcam coverage of the Welland Canal, then you're right, that site has zero ...

Re: Lake Michigan question
Thank you hugh3 and garbear! This armchair captain didn't know (until now) that boats sometimes hug the Michigan shore because of weather too. Shows the value of having experienced sailors on here to help us non-experienced boatnerds. :)

Lake Michigan question
I see the Clarke hugging the Michigan shore sailing south on Lake Michigan this morning. In the recent past, I've seen other boats following the same course. Usually boats take a course more in the middle of Lake Michigan (shortest route) or hugging the west coast (taking advantage of the lee shore ...

Re: Mighty Ships Algoma Eqinox Episode
Keep an eye on YouTube, Discovery Canada might upload it there at some point. I think they're the same channel that made the PRT episode and that's been on YouTube for a while now. Of course, that episode was made a number of years ago.

Re: Mighty Ships Algoma Eqinox Episode
I just tried and couldn't watch in the US. :( Of course they didn't tell me this until After they played 2 commercials. Wouldn't have minded the commercials if I could have seen the program. Anyone know if and/or when it might be available on YouTube? Thank you in advance. :)

Re: Aerial Bridge response
Another possibility is that I've seen a couple of recent transits on the Duluth Ship Canal on the webcam where the Captain blew an extra salute to his fan club on the piers. I don't know what the protocol is in that situation, but it appears to this armchair captain that the bridge doesn't return ...

Edwin H. Gott
Edwin H. Gott has been listed on boatnerd ais as "not under command" for at least the past few hours. She's in southern Lake Huron, obviously waiting for the St. Clair River to be usable. Anyone have an idea what's wrong? Error entering info in the ais system or something really wrong that the crew ...

Re: Soo Locks closing extended?
According to the Duluth Shipping News site, Edwin H. Gott is supposed to lay up in Duluth this year. Just rumor until it happens, but that probably explains the Gott.
