Re: K Y S

Roger,

I ordered my copy on March 30 and have not yet received it. I have the further complication of living in Ontario, Canada. Just wondering if you are having troubles shipping to Canada due to COVID. Looking forward to receiving it.

Re: Little sad about the Arctic going to scrap

I see that the Arctic is downbound on the St.Lawrence close to Baie Comeau with a destination of Aliaga. Wow that was quick. She had just returned from a trip to the Arctic to Deception Bay, the announcement is made and she's on her way.

Re: Ryerson

CSL and Algoma flat deckers have carried iron ore from the upper lakes out the St. Lawrence and from Sept Iles back to Hamilton. With the Ryerson being seaway sized, I could see her coming back to do that long haul.

Re: Salty transits into the Great Lakes for 2020

Having tracked some activities on the lakes myself, I can certainly appreciate the amount effort and attention required to perform any kind of tracking activities. thanks to all who do this.

Re: Salty transits into the Great Lakes for 2020

Thank you very much. The listing of salties on the first link is certainly very extensive. I was aware of the salty gallery but did not realize that it was only pictures of salt water visitors during the current year.

Salty transits into the Great Lakes for 2020

I noticed on the news page this morning that Denny had posted info regarding salty visits to the Great Lakes this year. Where might I be able to find a listing of the 231 vessels that made that transit.

This might explain why there are few if any Canadian flagged ATB's.

Re: Indiana Harbor

The average 1/2 load discharge last year was just over 10 hours and the range is from just under 8 hours to a couple that took close to 16 hours which was more normal for a full load.

Re: Indiana Harbor

Indy Harbour took just over 21 hours to unload. but the 3 full loads by the Barker were about 17 and 1/4 hours and the 2 full loads by the Minor were 15 and 16 hours. So I'm thinking that there were some problems either with Indy or Recor and this was an abnormal discharge and that 14 to 18 is more ...

Re: Grounding of a ship in lower Lake Huron

The one at the Voyager was the Sidsel Knutsen, a saltie tanker back in 2010.

I recall a Lower Lakes ATB getting caught up on the sand bar at the north end of Fawn Island while attempting to turn into Marine City aggregate dock. That wasn't that long ago.

Re: ships laid-up at Contrecoeur

My bad. I should learn to pay attention to what I read. The destination was indeed down bound from the last of the locks. The Discovery has docked at Contrecoeur but the Niagara is proceeding to dock in Montreal with a current destination of Montreal.

ships laid-up at Contrecoeur

I see that the Algoma Niagara and Algoma Discovery are both upbound on the St.Lawrence with a destination of Contrecoeur. If this AIS destination is correct, that means that the locks at St.Lambert and Contrecoeur are still open and these 2 ships will be joining the Spruceglen and CSL Assiniboine in...

Re: American Integrity

the Integrity left just before midnight after a total of 130 hours at the dock over 3 different visits. She left for the Century the first time after 29 hours. She left for the McCarthy the second time after 44 hours and she spent 56 hours this last time. That sounds like a terribly sticky load. The...

Re: Back-up for RECOR

American Century was at the dock for close to 38 hours. I suspect that the problem is with the Recor side of the unload system as i suspect that the Century would have pulled out to fix her problem if it was that severe. At this point, Indy Harbour is downbound just below Stag Island so I suspect th...

Re: Manitoulin In Ashtabula

It appears that she came in light so she should be hauling something to Quebec. I see the CSL Wellend is upbound on the St. Lawrence with a destination of Astabula and appears to be running light as well. Has there been increased footer traffic into Astabula with ore to support this transshipment? R...

They loaded road salt in Quebec and unloaded on the asphalt pad at Marysville. So that's road salt you see in that pile.

Re: Record tonnage through the Soo??

I see the coal carrying ships regularly stop in Detroit or Sarnia for fuel on their return trips. It appears to me that they are loading enough fuel to make a round trip back to Recor and on to Monroe, Essexville or back to Superior.

Re: Lambton Generating

I would think that the coal yard would make a good aggregate yard complete with deep port. The old coal conveyor tunnel is still in place up to the old coal yard but the belts have been long gone. A direct electric service was run out to the dock facilities back in the summer. So I suspect something...
