Re: Future of boatwatching
I am 25 years old and an avid boatwatcher. I've moved away from my stomping grounds to a more landlocked location in the region, but still take every chance I get back in Green Bay to catch a boat or two when I visit.

Re: Proposal for SS Spartan
Not to make this a personal attack on whoever is behind the web site, but the design and method in which it was coded is very dated or extremely amateur.
Do we know if this is even a recent proposal? The copyright says 1981-2012, but can be coded to self-update based on the current date.

Re: Edward L Ryerson
This is the Ryerson leaving the shipyard after completion at Manitowoc, WI. If I'm not mistaken, the year is 1960. The Ryerson was actually too long to make the turn at a bend in the Manitowoc river, and a portion of the bank was cut into to allow just enough room. Today, the same location is known ...

Tall Ship HMS Bounty Sunk - Hurricane Sandy
I believe this is the same tall ship to tour the lakes during the Great Lakes Tall Ship Challenge series, though can't remember the specific year she came. I believe I have photos of her in Green Bay, will search for them after work.

Re: Wreck Info
This might be a good place to start looking, as all of the wrecks are post-1950s and likely to be steel construction:

Re: Wilfred Sykes Pilot House/Bridge
I believe I have located an image that shows a binnacle in the area we have been focusing on. Unfortunately, it is on eBay so I can't attach the image. The link is here:

Re: Wilfred Sykes Pilot House/Bridge
You guys have been busy, good stuff from everyone. Thanks again.
After a little digging, I found one of my pictures that shows this area with some detail (sometimes having a lens that can't quite reach is a good thing). This was taken in early '08 at Bay Ship - it's clear that there's no binnacle ...

Interesting Al, never thought to look there... thanks for the lead.
If anyone has any information regarding this lead, I'd appreciate any imagery or charts that may confirm this.
I'm a bit thrown off by it's condition because it spent several years outside with its previous owner. I'm not sure ...

Re: Wilfred Sykes Pilot House/Bridge
Perfect Chuck, thank you.
Now my mystery deepens - I recently acquired a binnacle that was described as coming from the Sykes. The seller had acquired it through her husband who served aboard the Sykes during the 1970s. In the late 70's, the navigation equipment was said to be upgraded and the ...

Thanks again Chuck, this information should help some. Any images of the bridge or specifics on the binnacle manufacturer would provide me with ideal material, but again I appreciate your information and help with the matter.

Thanks for the reply, Chuck. Unfortunately, I am looking more for photographic imagery but I appreciate the information. Does the paper specify where any of the instruments in the bridge were purchased from (manufacturers, etc.)?

Wilfred Sykes Pilot House/Bridge
Does anyone have or know where I might find an image of the Wilfred Sykes' bridge anywhere from her launch to early 1970s? Any help would be appreciated.
